Milk Bar Crusader Jason King has announced he is looking for someone to take over at one of Broken Hill’s most iconic tourism experiences, Bells Milk Bar. After over ten years, Jason is offering the unique business for sale and is seeking expressions of interest for someone to take over the important role as caretaker.
“Bells is such an important part of Broken Hill’s history. It is important to find the right person to take it to the next stage in the journey,” he said. “Bells has been such a big part of my life and things are going great for the business, but my circumstances have changed. I’m looking for someone else to inject some fresh energy and take things to the next level. ”
Jason has returned the once struggling milk bar to its former glory, winning multiple tourism awards for Heritage and Cultural Tourism for his efforts. He says that with the heritage significance of the milk bar and the likely National Heritage listing of Broken Hill as a city, it’s essential that this Broken Hill icon remain in sympathetic hands and the history and traditions continue to be maintained and celebrated by any new owner.
“Thanks to the support of the local community, Bells is now firmly established as an iconic local destination and renowned tourism experience. I am looking for someone who shares my passion for maintaining the character and history of the place to take over. There is opportunity to expand and grow but it is important to make sure future generations can continue to enjoy the experience like those in the past have. I think the right person is someone who values customer service, enjoys working with food and retail, loves the 1950s and has a passion for local history”.
